After Elmar Radd's death, Norrin's father Jartran took another lover and fathered a second son, Fennan. The boy was born out of wedlock and the secret was kept completely: Norrin grew up believing himself an only child, left Zenn-La as Galactus's herald believing it too, and spent a century in the spaceways never once hearing his brother's name.

When the Surfer finally returned to Zenn-La, Fennan was waiting in the one place that could wound him most — at Shalla-Bal's side. The woman Norrin had sacrificed his freedom, his body, and his mortal life to protect had taken his unknown half-brother as her partner. The revelation landed as a double loss: a sibling he had been denied his entire life, introduced to him in the same moment as a rival.

The cruelest layer is how unnecessary the secrecy was. Zenn-La was a utopia that had abolished want and shame alike, yet Jartran still hid his younger son away, and the truth only surfaced after both parents were dead and could not answer for it. The Surfer has outlived empires and watched stars die; the discovery that his own family tree had a hidden branch remains one of the smallest, and sharpest, blows he ever took.

Fennan Radd is a footnote in most Surfer histories, yet his existence rewrites Norrin's whole childhood — and turns a cosmic love story into a family one.
