Classic X-Men #7 (1987): the backup story reveals that Black Bishop Sebastian Shaw, betrayed by White King Ned Buckman — whose Project: Armageddon Sentinels struck down Shaw's lover Lourdes Chantel — retaliated the same night, using Emma Frost's telepathy to make Buckman destroy his own Council of the Chosen before Shaw killed him and proclaimed himself Black King, seven years after his debut in X-Men #129 (1980).
