Avengers: Endgame Reclaims the All-Time Global Box Office Lead From Avatar
Avengers: Endgame has surpassed Avatar to reclaim the all-time global box office record, according to an announcement from The Walt Disney Company. The result returns Endgame to the top position on the worldwide chart, ahead of the film it has traded the lead with.
The wording of the announcement matters: this is a reclaiming of the record, not a first arrival at the top. Endgame and Avatar have occupied the leading places in global box office history, and this latest shift puts Marvel's Avengers film back in first place.
No new gross figure is included in the available material, so this summary states only the change in position that Disney reported. The record concerns theatrical earnings worldwide and the relative standing of the two films at the top of that chart.
For Marvel, the milestone reinforces Endgame's place as the studio's biggest theatrical success to date in this ranking. The original Disney announcement is linked for readers who want the company's full report on the box office change.
