Today's Fact

Scott Summers believed he had surrendered his infant son forever when the Askani carried the virus-stricken baby Nathan into the far future. The Adventures of Cyclops and Phoenix #1–4 (1994), by Scott Lobdell and Gene Ha, quietly handed the boy back: shortly after the wedding of Scott and Jean to Jean Grey, Mother Askani pulled both of their minds two thousand years forward and housed them in fresh bodies grown for the purpose.
Under the cover names Slym and Redd Dayspring, the newlyweds raised Nathan in Apocalypse's shadow, teaching a sickly child to hold the techno-organic virus at bay with telekinesis he barely understood. The one rule they could not break was the truth itself, so Nathan grew up loved, trained and protected by two devoted guardians whose real names he never heard.
Twelve years of parenting ended in a single pull back through time. When Mother Askani died, her hold dissolved and Scott and Jean woke in their own era carrying a dozen years of memories their bodies had never lived, while Nathan stayed behind to finish becoming Cable. The grizzled soldier who kept arriving in the present was, from Scott’s side of it, a son he had already raised once in secret.
