Today's Fact

Owen Reece was a timid laboratory technician until a particle accident in Fantastic Four #20 (1963) rewrote him into the Molecule Man, able to command the structure of matter itself. The Fantastic Four could slow him down; they could not safely hold him, and so the problem landed, as Earth's worst problems kept landing, on the desk of the being who was sworn never to have a desk at all.
Uatu intervened directly. He carried the Molecule Man away to a distant other-dimensional world where time ran at an accelerated pace, isolating a man who could unmake cities from every city there was. Exile alone, the Watcher judged, was not enough security for a power that answered to one frightened man's impulses.
So Uatu also reinforced the self-imposed mental blocks that limited what Reece believed his power could touch, leaving the Molecule Man convinced his gift stopped at inanimate, inorganic matter. It was one of the Watcher's quietest interventions and one of his most consequential: a cage built out of geography, time and the prisoner's own certainty about himself.
Why It's Obscure
No battle, no trial, no speech to the sky. The Watcher's solution to a man who could rearrange matter was to rearrange where — and what — the man believed.
