The being sworn never to interfere ended his story with the most personal commitment imaginable: a child. In FF and Fantastic Four stories by Matt Fraction (2013), Uatu is revealed to have taken a partner, the Watcher Ulana, who was expecting their baby in his citadel in the Blue Area of the Moon.
Watchers are born vanishingly rarely, and this child had reportedly been watching from the womb, waiting for what Ulana called the right moment to arrive. Sue Storm, of all people, talked her through what a newborn does to a life — even a cosmic one.
Uatu was murdered during Original Sin (2014) before he could raise the child. In Mighty Avengers Vol. 2 #10 (2014), by Al Ewing, Ulana — bound by the oath from naming the killer — instead asked Blue Marvel to serve as godfather, and Adam Brashear accepted in his friend’s honour.
Why It's Obscure
Centuries of silent observation, and the Watcher’s final legacy is a nursery with a human godparent.
