Today's Fact
His gentlest power is also his most absurd: the same density trick that lets him drift through walls lets him become, briefly, the heaviest Avenger alive.
The Vision does not simply turn solid or intangible. His body shunts mass to and from another dimension, so his weight is a dial, not a fact — at the bottom he is a wraith who can walk through a bank vault, and at the top the dial stops at roughly 90 tons, with a body described as harder than diamond at that density.
That ceiling was not trivia. During the Avengers' battle with an ionic-powered Count Nefaria in Avengers Vol. 1 #164–166 (1977) — a villain swatting aside the team's heavy hitters — the Vision used his extreme density and durability to render Nefaria unconscious, a feat the combined roster had been struggling to manage by ordinary punching.
The trade-off is built into the number. At maximum density the Vision is effectively immovable and nearly immobilised: he cannot chase anyone at 90 tons, he can only be the wall they run into. His most devastating attack is, essentially, standing in exactly the right place and refusing to be moved.
Why It's Obscure
Everyone remembers the ghost trick. Far fewer remember that the ghost can also become a monument and drop the strongest man in the room.
