Today's Fact
Checked against independent sources — the issues are cited below.
During the Siege of Asgard, Walker and the Mighty Avengers raced Norman Osborn's Thunderbolts to the Asgardian armoury to keep Odin's spear, Gungnir, out of enemy hands. In Thunderbolts #142 (2010), the super-soldier Nuke — fighting as Scourge — got there with the spear first and used it to sever Walker's left arm and left leg in a single ambush.
Walker survived, and the government thanked him with a desk: he became warden of the Raft, the super-prison, working from a wheelchair with a plain prosthetic arm. Stark-grade replacements existed all around him, and he turned them down on principle — he would not let the state rebuild him into a cyborg like the man who had crippled him.
The limbs eventually came back by the strangest route on his file. In Dark Avengers #184–185, stranded in an alternate world, an alternate Scarlet Witch used a Venom symbiote as surgical thread and regrew Walker's arm and leg whole — and Walker, staring at his restored hand, was appalled before he was grateful.
Why It's Obscure
One spear took two limbs in Asgard; pride kept the replacements off for years.
