Today's Fact
He can reproduce any fighting style he has ever seen — which is exactly why one teenage student could ask him a question no database could answer.
Jeanne Foucault, the Avengers Academy student called Finesse, was a prodigy with a familiar gift: photographic reflexes, the ability to copy any movement after seeing it once. Raised by retired criminals who had trained under Taskmaster, she worked out the obvious suspicion — the only other person alive with her exact power might be her father. Every record that could prove it had been deleted or sealed, some of them by Taskmaster himself.
In Avengers Academy Vol. 1 #9 (2011), 'Teach Your Children,' Finesse and Quicksilver raided his training camp and she finally got her fight. Taskmaster admitted he had wanted it too, for the opposite reason: he hoped that remembering her moves might make him remember her. It did not work. All of her techniques were borrowed from other fighters — just like his — which he took as evidence the bloodline was probable, while honestly conceding he could not say for certain.
That is the cruelty built into Tony Masters' gift. Every new skill he files away overwrites something personal, so a man can meet the daughter he may have, fight her at full speed, conclude she is likely his — and warn her, in the same conversation, that he may not remember her face the next time they meet.
Why It's Obscure
A family reunion conducted at swordpoint, with the guest of honor unable to remember if he was invited.
