The Featured Fact

In Planet-Size X-Men Vol. 1 #1 (2021), Krakoa's Omega-level mutants did in a single evening what humanity had only dreamed about: they terraformed Mars — rebuilding its core, raising oceans and an atmosphere — and transported the living island of Arakko and its warlike mutant population there wholesale. The red planet was renamed Planet Arakko, and Storm, who had directed weather across its new skies, was named its first Regent.

The coronation came in S.W.O.R.D. Vol. 2 #6 (2021). Abigail Brand convened the galactic powers aboard the Peak and demanded they recognize Arakko as the capital planet of the Sol system. When Doctor Doom crashed the summit demanding to speak to this so-called Voice of Sol, Storm stepped through a portal and introduced herself by her old names — Windrider, she-who-swam-with-Acanti, Hadari Yao — before finishing: Regent of Mars, and the voice of Sol.

The job was no ceremonial sash. Arakko's Great Ring ruled by ritual combat, its members openly mocked the Earth-born queen as out of her depth, and Brand herself intended to use Storm's throne as a lever for S.W.O.R.D.'s own agenda. Storm held the seat anyway — out-arguing Doom, out-fighting challengers, and casting the vote that imposed peace on a planet that worshipped war.

2021

One gala, one planet — the terraforming was unveiled at the first Hellfire Gala in Planet-Size X-Men #1, staged in front of every world leader Krakoa could invite.

Sol

Capital, demoted Earth — Brand's pitch to the Galactic Council made Arakko, not Earth, the leading world of the system, with Storm as its single speaker.

Doom

The gatecrasher test — Victor von Doom interrupted the summit to demand the Voice of Sol show herself; Storm's entrance, thunderclap included, was the answer.

Arakko

A throne of fighters — the Great Ring's law was challenge by combat, and Isca the Unbeaten taunted the new regent as 'Queen of Mars' while waiting for her to fail.
