The white hair spilling over Ororo Munroe's shoulders and the pale blue of her eyes are usually filed away as striking character design. In New Mutants #32 (1985), Chris Claremont revealed they are an inheritance: when a time-lost Magik and Mirage wash up in ancient Egypt, the sorceress who shelters them, Ashake, has Ororo's exact face, white hair and blue eyes — and identifies herself as Storm's ancestor, a priestess of the goddess Ma'at.
Later accounts widened the line far beyond one Egyptian priestess. Reference works on Storm's family describe a matrilineal bloodline stretching back to before the fall of Atlantis, whose women periodically appear with white hair, blue eyes and formidable magical potential — a line that includes Ayesha, reckoned among the earliest humans to hold the mantle of Sorcerer Supreme in the pre-Cataclysmic age.
Ororo herself has never trained that birthright into a spellbook, because her weather gift arrived first and louder. But the raw material is documented: the Marvel Tarot in Marvel Tarot #1 (2007) deals her the High Priestess card, a distinction she shares in rotation only with the Scarlet Witch and Agatha Harkness — Marvel's own filing system quietly listing the weather mutant among its born witches.
Why It's Obscure
A signature look turns out to be a family crest — one worn by priestesses for thousands of years before the X-Men existed.
