Today's Fact

Peter Quill went bounty hunting for a stolen heirloom and got arrested by family he did not know he had.

STAR-LORD'S FIRST CAPTURE WAS HIS OWN SISTER — VICTORIA, COMMANDER OF THE SPARTAX ROYAL GUARD!
The Featured Fact

Peter Quill grew up believing he was an only child. He was wrong by exactly one Royal Guard. Victoria of Spartax is the illegitimate daughter of Emperor J'son — Peter's half-sister — hidden away off-world as a child, then sent to military school, where she climbed to become Captain Victoria, commander of the Spartax Royal Guard.

The siblings met professionally, which in this family means at gunpoint. In Legendary Star-Lord #1 (2014), by Sam Humphries and Paco Medina, Peter breaks into a Badoon-guarded orphanage hunting a cosmic gem and runs straight into the Guard commander sent to collect the bounty on his head. She introduces herself by arresting him: Captain Victoria, daughter of J'son, there to haul her newly discovered brother to the brokerage fortress of Viderdoom.

Then family loyalty rewired the job. Peter talked Victoria into a better scheme — pretend to sell him, take the bounty money, then spring him and empty Count Bligh's entire fortune into Spartax accounts to fund relief for Spartoi refugees. The con worked. Offered half the take afterward, Peter refused it, and Victoria let him keep the only thing he had actually come for: the adventure, and a sister.

Why It's Obscure

An emperor's hidden daughter, a bounty with his name on it, and a heist run by two Quills — the family business, explained.

Hidden off-world
Victoria's childhood — as the emperor's illegitimate daughter she was raised in secret away from Spartax, then funnelled into military school, the empire's way of shelving an inconvenient princess.
The Royal Guard
Her day job — Victoria commands the Spartax Royal Guard, the elite force charged with protecting the throne her brother kept declining to sit on.
Fortress Viderdoom
The double-cross — the siblings' con needed a stage big enough to rob a bounty broker blind, and Bligh's fortress vault obliged, funding refugee relief with a criminal's fortune.
Empress Victoria
Where she ended up — the hidden daughter eventually took the throne outright as Empress of Spartax, outranking the brother who once outran her handcuffs.
