Today's Fact

At the close of The Black Vortex in 2015, Peter Quill proposed to Kitty Pryde of the X-Men — and then accepted election as ruler of the Spartax Empire, trading starship decks for trade negotiations. Somebody still had to be Star-Lord, so Kitty took the name, the jacket, and the Guardians roster spot herself.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 4 #1 (2015), by Brian Michael Bendis and Valerio Schiti, opens on the new arrangement: Rocket Raccoon leads a team whose Star-Lord is Kitty Pryde, phasing bodily through a Chitauri warship to wreck it from the inside, while Peter fumes his way through royal protocol back on Spartax.
The swap was far more than a costume loan. Kitty had left Earth and the X-Men behind to live among the Guardians, and she held the mantle across months of issues before Peter lost his throne, drifted back to outlaw life, and received the name back from the woman who had worn it considerably better behaved than he ever did.
Why It's Obscure
Most heroes guard their codename with their life. Peter Quill handed his to his fiancée along with the team, then complained about the paperwork of kingship.
