Today's Fact
Victor Creed went back to the Morlock tunnels to finish a massacre. Something down there had been training for him.
When Sabretooth returned to the Morlock tunnels to hunt the survivors of the Mutant Massacre, he found the tunnels had a new predator. Caliban — once the frail mutant-tracker the Marauders had nearly killed — had sold himself to Apocalypse for strength, and in X-Factor Vol. 1 #51 (1990) he used every bit of it on Creed.
Caliban beat Sabretooth down and broke his back, then walked away certain the work was finished. What the Morlock avenger did not know was that Creed carried a healing factor: the spine that should have ended him knitted itself back together, and the man left for dead in the dark got up again.
The grudge outlived the injury by years. Caliban hunted Sabretooth again and again — beating him a second time, later kidnapping Jubilee to demand him in trade, and once being talked down mid-mauling by Cable in a holographic recreation of those same tunnels. Few defeats in Creed's long life were as complete, or as wasted, as the one Caliban never got credit for.
Why It's Obscure
Revenge, delivered perfectly — except for one medical detail the avenger never checked.
