Today's Fact
Creed's body died on Earth; his soul went downstairs and immediately ran for office.
Death was never going to be a retirement for Victor Creed. When the Red Right Hand ripped Wolverine's soul out of his body and dropped it into Hell in Wolverine Vol. 4 #1–5 (2010–2011), Logan found the pit already had a succession crisis — and Creed was winning it. Sabretooth's soul had seized the Soul Sword, the blade whose bearer commands Hell, and was bellowing for every damned soul in earshot to kneel.
Creed in Hell was Creed perfected: no healing factor to lean on, no body to waste, just appetite and seniority among the damned. He had already made himself Satan's loudest problem before Logan arrived, and with the sword in hand he stood one dead Wolverine away from a throne — a promotion from Logan's worst enemy to Logan's eternal landlord.
Logan declined the tenancy. Their rematch in the pit ran nine nearly silent pages and ended the way their earthly feud had: with Creed's head off. Wolverine briefly held the sword — and Hell's crown with it — before hurling the blade back into the rioting mob rather than rule. Creed's severed soul-head was still fuming on the ground as Logan climbed out, a king for a matter of minutes, outlived by his own grudge.
Why It's Obscure
Most villains scheme for a country or a dimension; Creed aimed one rung lower and nearly took the basement of creation.
