Today's Fact

Victor Creed understood his own bloodlust was slipping its leash, so he did something startlingly practical: he put a telepath on the payroll. Birdy, a mutant mercenary first seen in X-Men #6 (1992), travelled at Creed's side and, whenever the animal in him rose too close to the surface, hit him with a psychic blast he called “the glow.”
The glow did more than calm him down. It numbed the pain of memories Creed kept buried from his youth and bought him short windows of genuine self-control — long enough to plan an operation, hold a negotiation, and work as a professional instead of a natural disaster wearing a man's shape.
In Sabretooth vol. 1 #4 (1993), Creed unmasked the armoured Tribune hunting him and found his own son, Graydon Creed, inside. Graydon recognised precisely what Birdy was to his father and stabbed her to death on the spot, laughing that Victor would never control himself again. He called it correctly: stripped of the glow, Creed spiralled into a killing spree and eventually went begging to Charles Xavier for psionic treatment in X-Men Unlimited #3 (1993).
