Today's Fact

She spent years unable to touch anyone at all, which is exactly why losing the one person she could touch broke her twice.

ROGUE'S BEST FRIEND COULD TOUCH HER SAFELY — THEN ERASED HERSELF FROM ROGUE'S MIND!
The Featured Fact

In her Brotherhood of Mutants days, Rogue knew a mutant thief who called herself Blindspot, a woman whose own touch could pull chosen memories straight out of a person's head. The two powers cancelled each other out on contact, and that accident of biology gave Rogue something almost nobody else could offer her: Blindspot could lay a hand on her bare skin and suffer nothing for it. The pair became genuine best friends inside Mystique's orbit of mercenaries and thieves.

Friendship came with an exit clause nobody remembered signing. When Mystique decided the partnership was over, Blindspot protected herself the only way she knew how, lifting every memory of her own existence out of both Mystique and Rogue before she vanished. Rogue kept living her life with a person-shaped hole in it, sensing recognition she could not explain whenever the past surfaced, most sharply during the Japan affair retold across Rogue Vol. 3 (2004–2005), where Lady Deathstrike came hunting over a framed theft from her father's adamantium research.

Blindspot eventually handed the stolen years back, and then nearly took far more. Wanting her friend restored to the girl she had known, she tried to strip Rogue's memory down to her Brotherhood days, and only a desperate fight — Rogue absorbing her own teammates' powers as the memories flooded home — put things right. Her reason was painfully simple: in a life spent being forgotten by everyone she met, Rogue had been the single friend Blindspot ever managed to keep.

Why It's Obscure

The friend nobody can remember, the name Rogue gave her, and a fortune built on stolen secrets.

The safe touch
Opposite powers, one loophole — Blindspot's memory theft neutralised Rogue's absorption on contact, making her one of the rarest people alive who could hug Rogue without ending up in a coma.
The name
Rogue coined it herself — after Blindspot's power worked on someone, reaching for the missing memory turned up only a blank, and Rogue took to calling that blank, and then the woman herself, a blind spot.
The fortune
Forgetting was the business model — Blindspot spent years lifting passwords, industrial secrets and military plans for paying clients, then deleting herself from every witness, which is how a nobody accumulated billions.
The return
Japan forced the issue — a doctored photograph of Rogue and Sunfire at a crime scene dragged the erased mission back into the open, and Lady Deathstrike's vendetta pulled Blindspot out of hiding at last.
