Today's Fact

After Rogue passed through the Siege Perilous and was split from the Carol Danvers personality, she washed up in the Savage Land with her powers gone entirely. In Uncanny X-Men Vol. 1 #274 (1991), the woman who could shrug off tank fire had no flight, no invulnerability and no absorption touch — so for the campaign against Zaladane she fought in a suit of armor, and complained about having to wear it.
She was not hiding behind that armor, either. Powerless Rogue stood alongside Magneto and Ka-Zar against the Savage Land Mutates and a S.H.I.E.L.D. expedition led by Nick Fury, and she repeatedly argued Magneto down from killing prisoners — a moral stand she had to make with nothing but her own voice, since she could no longer back it up with borrowed super-strength.
Her powers only came roaring back mid-battle in Uncanny X-Men Vol. 1 #275 (1991), when a crash knocked her through a citadel ceiling and her full strength and flight returned just in time to haul Magneto out of danger. The adventure ended on the darkest note available: Magneto killed Zaladane despite Rogue's pleas, and whatever had been growing between them in the jungle died with her.
Why It's Obscure
Stripped of flight, strength and absorption, Rogue still marched on a magnetic citadel — the armor she hated wearing saved her life.
