Today's Fact

The most quoted Quicksilver scene ever printed contains no running at all. In X-Factor Vol. 1 #87 (1993), writer Peter David sat the government team's members down for psychiatric evaluations with Doc Samson after the X-Cutioner's Song crossover, and Pietro Maximoff finally explained, in his own words, why he is rude to absolutely everybody.
His answer was an analogy about a cash machine. Imagine, he said, standing in line at an ATM behind someone who does not know how to use it — who fumbles every step, slowly, while you wait. Now imagine that every person and every object in your entire life moves at that speed, forever, and there is no faster line. That, Pietro explained, is what the world feels like at his velocity.
It reframed three decades of characterisation in a single speech. Pietro's arrogance and snapping temper were not simple villain leftovers from his Brotherhood debut; they were the predictable result of a man whose perception never slows down, trapped in permanent impatience with a world that cannot keep up. Samson, to his credit, simply wrote it down.
Why It's Obscure
No villain, no race, no explosion — just a speedster on a psychiatrist's couch and the finest ATM analogy in comics.
