Today's Fact

By the finale of the Dark Angel Saga in Uncanny X-Force Vol. 1 #18 (2011), Warren Worthington III had been fully consumed by the Apocalypse seed and remade as the new Archangel, heir to Apocalypse and ready to wipe the planet clean and start evolution over. The only way to stop him was the one Betsy Braddock least wanted: she drove her blade into the man she loved and ended the threat by killing him.
Warren surfaced for a few moments as he lay dying, free of the possession at last. Betsy could not give him back the years Archangel had stolen, so she did the next thing a telepath could do: she entered his mind and built him an entire lifetime inside it. In that constructed life the two of them married, settled in Colorado and raised two daughters together.
Inside the illusion, decades unspooled in the span of a few real minutes. Warren grew grey beside her, watched his children grow up, and finally passed away peacefully of old age, loved and at rest. Then Betsy opened her eyes back in the ruins, holding the body of a man who had, by every measure that mattered to him, already lived a full and happy life.
Why It's Obscure
She could not save his life, so she spent her telepathy on the next best thing: all the years he was never going to get.
