Today's Fact

Of all the hiding places in two dimensions, Amanda Sefton chose her foster brother's ribcage. The Soulsword, the blade of Limbo forged from Illyana Rasputin's own soul, had passed from the dead Magik to Kitty Pryde and then to Amanda, and too many dark powers were hunting it. During one of Kurt Wagner's trips to Limbo, Amanda quietly hid the sword inside his body without telling him, reasoning that a soul as pure and unpolluted as his was the one vault no corruption could crack.
Kurt learned he had been carrying magical contraband only when the hunters came calling, a revelation that lands across Nightcrawler Vol. 3 #7–11 (2005). Amanda and her mother Margali Szardos raced to warn him, the demon Hive seized control of Wolverine's body in the hunt for the blade, and the sword hidden in Kurt became the weapon that disrupted the demon's essence. A compliment had made him a target: everyone who wanted the Soulsword now had to go through the elf first.
The arrangement ended in X-Infernus Vol. 1 #1–4 (2009), when the Soulsword was finally drawn out of Nightcrawler and Illyana Rasputin, returned from the dead, reclaimed what had always been hers. Kurt, characteristically, used the moment not to complain about years as an involuntary scabbard but to persuade Magik to come home to the X-Men.
Why It's Obscure
His foster sister needed the safest vault in creation for a soul-forged blade, and she filed the application inside his chest without asking.
