Today's Fact
Every long feud has a worst night. This one kept the receipt and wore it.
The Moon Knight–Bushman feud did not end with an arrest. In a rooftop flashback in Moon Knight Vol. 5 #2 (2006), by Charlie Huston and David Finch, Marc Spector — dropped from the roof, his legs already a ruin — threw a crescent dart into Raoul Bushman’s back, dragged himself within reach, and used the blade to carve the mercenary’s face clean off. He held the skin up toward the moon and asked Khonshu if it was enough.
It bought no closure at all; it issued an invitation. In the missions that followed, Khonshu began appearing to Spector in the shape of the faceless Bushman — a god delivering orders through the worst thing his fist had ever done, worn as a speaking mask. Every divine instruction for a long stretch of that series arrived wearing the evidence.
Marvel has never quietly retconned the moment away. Later runs keep circulating the receipt: Zodiac taunted Moon Knight about face-cutting in Moon Knight Vol. 8 #6 (2021), and in Moon Knight: Black, White & Blood #1 (2022) Spector joked to Spider-Man mid-team-up, “You hug me, I’ll slice your face off.” The grossest kill in his history remains canon, remains current, and remains the first item his enemies raise in cross-examination.
Why It's Obscure
The panel everyone assumes must have been undone by now. It was not undone. It was promoted to recurring guest star.
