Today's Fact

For decades, the demon realm of Limbo passed between monsters — Belasco, S'ym, and finally Magik, who ruled it as her birthright of suffering. Then, in New Mutants Vol. 4 #28 (2022), Illyana Rasputina simply gave it away. Her chosen successor was Madelyne Pryor, the Goblin Queen.
Magik's reasoning was almost insultingly practical: ruling demons had been exhilarating once, but the crown had become a chore, and Madelyne — resurrected on Krakoa and still carrying a lifetime of other people's decisions — wanted a domain that was unmistakably her own. Magik made the transfer on one condition, extracted as a promise: Limbo's new queen would not attack Krakoa.
Madelyne kept the throne through the Dark Web crisis that followed, when her grief over her lost son Nathan briefly turned her demons loose on Manhattan before Jean Grey's offered memories made a fragile peace. She emerged still reigning — and later raised a Limbo embassy in the city and fielded her own Dark X-Men, a queen by appointment rather than by conquest.
Why It's Obscure
A hell dimension changed hands with a handshake and one promise — the calmest coronation Limbo has ever seen.
