Today's Fact
Marvel's fictional idol needed a singing voice, so Marvel hired an idol who was already called Luna.
In December 2020, Marvel announced that Luna — the main vocalist of the real K-pop group f(x) — would become the singing voice of Luna Snow. Her first track in the role was “Flow,” released that month and sung explicitly from the character's perspective, timed to Luna Snow's arrival in the mobile game MARVEL Super War.
The casting is a hall of mirrors: a performer named Luna voicing a hero whose stage name is Luna, performing songs credited to the fictional idol Seol Hee. The character already had a discography before the hire — the singles “Tonight” and “I Really Wanna” (featuring Krystal Youngs) had been released under Luna Snow's name while she was still a game-only character.
Luna introduced “Flow” herself in a video message for players, presenting herself as the voice of Marvel's first K-pop superhero. It is one of the strangest credit lines in Marvel history: the songs exist on real music platforms, the singer is a charting idol, and the artist name on the cover belongs to a woman who debuted inside a phone game.
Why It's Obscure
Comics readers meet Seol Hee in panels; almost none of them know her records have a real idol's voice on them.
