The Hand sent its deadliest new operative to New York with orders to bring down Daredevil. What nobody in the ancient ninja order realised was that Lady Bullseye was running a second campaign entirely on her own — in a courtroom, in business dress, under her own name of Maki Matsumoto.
Working as an attorney, Matsumoto attached herself to the cruellest case available: she assisted the parents of Milla Donovan, Murdock's wife, who had been driven mad by Mister Fear and placed in a mental institution, in their bid to gain custody of her. Every hearing was a blade aimed at Matt Murdock's private life, delivered with perfect legal manners.
The disguise held because it was built for one man's senses. When an associate stumbled onto her double life, she killed him to keep the Hand from learning the truth. The scheme surfaces across the 'Lady Bullseye' arc, with her legal offensive detailed in Daredevil Vol. 2 #114 (2008) — the assassin was litigating against her target by day and hunting him by night.
Why It's Obscure
Two fronts, one enemy — and Murdock never knew the lawyer across the aisle was the killer across the rooftop.
