THE UNSTOPPABLE JUGGERNAUT BECAME CAPTAIN UNIVERSE — AND USED COSMIC POWER TO REPAIR THE DAMAGE HE'D CAUSED!
The Featured Fact

In The Amazing Spider-Man #627 (2010), Roger Stern and Lee Weeks opened their sequel to the classic "Nothing Can Stop the Juggernaut" with something stopping him cold: Spider-Man found Cain Marko beaten unconscious in a Central Park crater. The culprit was the newest Captain Universe — William Nguyen, a small businessman whose livelihood had been wrecked as collateral damage in Spider-Man's famous earlier Juggernaut fight, now wielding the Uni-Power and determined to spend it on revenge.

Revenge, however, was not the assignment. The Uni-Power had actually chosen Nguyen to repair the fractured tectonic plates beneath New York — damage left over from when the Juggernaut once had to dig his way out of solid concrete. Nguyen flatly refused to spend cosmic power on geology while his target was in reach. So the Enigma Force did something it rarely does mid-battle: it fired its host. The Uni-Power tore itself away from Nguyen and transferred straight into Cain Marko.

And the Juggernaut, handed limitless cosmic power on top of limitless physical power, did the least Juggernaut thing imaginable: he flew the job himself, sealed the fractures in the planet's crust, earned a commendation from the Uni-Power — and then, at Spider-Man's request, spared Nguyen, the man who had just tried to kill him. Nguyen survived to write a book about the experience. The arc ran through The Amazing Spider-Man #627–629 (2010) under the only honest title available: "Something Can Stop the Juggernaut."

Why It's Obscure

Cosmic power usually goes to the worthy. In 2010 it went to the man who had personally cracked the bedrock, because he was the only one strong enough to fix it.

#627
The crater — Stern and Weeks begin with the unstoppable object already stopped, flat on his back in Central Park, and Spider-Man playing detective over the one opponent he could never put there himself.
Nguyen
The grudge — William Nguyen's life was ruined in the margins of a famous fight he was never part of. Given the power of Captain Universe, he aimed all of it at the man he blamed.
The switch
Fired mid-fight — the Uni-Power's true task was repairing New York's cracked bedrock. When Nguyen refused the job, the power quit him and hired the Juggernaut on the spot.
The repair
Cosmic overtime — Cain used Captain Universe power to fix damage he himself had caused years earlier — the most expensive act of taking responsibility in his long career of property damage.
The mercy
Sparing the assassin — at Spider-Man's word, the empowered Juggernaut let Nguyen live. Nguyen's review of the experience became a book about surviving the Juggernaut.
