The Featured Fact

In Uncanny X-Men Vol. 1 #244 (1989), Jubilee watches Storm, Rogue, Dazzler and Psylocke rescue her from mutant hunters at a Hollywood mall, then slips through Gateway's teleportation portal behind them as it closes. She lands alone in the Australian desert outside the X-Men's hidden Outback town, with no invitation, no supplies and no way home.

The backup story in Uncanny X-Men Annual Vol. 1 #13 (1989) shows what happened next. Gateway quietly leads her to a tunnel entrance and a hidey-hole beneath the base, in a cavern the Reavers once used to stash stolen treasure. Jubilee moves in, raids the team's larder, scrounges costume pieces, swims in the underground lake and watches the X-Men play baseball, all without a single one of them spotting her.

She stayed invisible partly because the town's sensors simply did not register her, a quirk the era never explained. Her secret residency only ended when the Reavers overran the town in Uncanny X-Men Vol. 1 #251 (1989) and the stowaway finally stepped out of hiding to help the one X-Man left behind, Wolverine.
