Today's Fact
Sunlight should have ended her story in 2010; a borrowed piece of vampire engineering kept her in the field.
When Xarus, son of Dracula, turned Jubilee during Curse of the Mutants in X-Men Vol. 3 #1–6 (2010), the cruellest part of the curse was the clock: direct sunlight was lethal to her, which is a serious problem for a hero whose whole life had been lived outdoors.
Her workaround was a piece of equipment most summaries never mention — a Lightbender Amulet that shielded her body from the sun's rays. Wearing it, the vampire Jubilee could stand in open daylight, travel with the X-Men and teach classes without bursting into flame.
The amulet's world came with teachers. In X-Men Vol. 3 #24–29 (2012) Jubilee trained with the Forgiven, a sect of vampires led by Raizo Kodo who refused to feed on human blood, and she learned sword work and self-control alongside the daylight freedom the amulet already gave her.
Why It's Obscure
Plenty of readers remember the fangs; far fewer remember the jewellery that let her keep a day job.
