Jubilee has been invisible to telepaths since her very first issue!
The Featured Fact

Jubilee debuted in Uncanny X-Men #244 (1989) — and she arrived with a power nobody listed. At the issue's end, she stows away with the X-Men. In the very next issue, Psylocke is on guard duty, actively scanning telepathically — and she cannot detect the teenage girl hiding in their own home. In Uncanny #249, Jubilee leaves a note for Havok; the intruder is now obvious — and even then, Psylocke's scan finds nothing. Marvel's official bio now states it plainly: Jubilee possesses "natural psi-shields" that make her thoughts "slippery," rendering her "almost invisible to telepaths who don't know precisely what to look for."

The ability was never explained — it was simply there. She used it to hide from telepathic scans and even to block mental probes from Sentinels. And then, after those early issues, writers quietly dropped it. As CBR's deep dive puts it, the immunity was "never shown again" after the debut arc. Two decades of comics — and the girl who could ghost the most powerful telepaths on Earth just... stopped.

It fits a pattern: Jubilee was always written more powerful than she looked. In Generation X, Emma Frost said Jubilee could theoretically detonate matter at a subatomic level — a fusion-bomb equivalent — but held back because she feared killing someone. The sparkle-pops were a choice. The psi-shields were a forgotten gift.

Why It's Obscure

The X-Men's most underestimated member walked around with a power Xavier's telepaths couldn't touch — and nobody talked about it for twenty years.

1989

1989
Uncanny X-Men #245 — Psylocke is on psychic guard duty, scanning for intruders. She finds nothing. Jubilee is living in their base, undetected.
1989
Uncanny X-Men #249 — Jubilee leaves a note for Havok; an intruder is now obviously present. Psylocke scans again — still nothing. Telepathic immunity confirmed, twice.
Trivia
Marvel's official bio calls them "natural psi-shields" — her thoughts are "slippery," nearly invisible to telepaths. She even used them to block Sentinel mental probes.
