Jubilee spent 8 years as a vampire — until Quentin Quire burned a Phoenix shard to cure her!

The Featured Fact

In X-Men #1 (2010), "Curse of the Mutants," a vampire suicide bomber detonated in San Francisco's Union Square, showering the crowd in infected blood. Jubilee — depowered since M-Day — was infected. The virus slowly turned her; drawn by a hypnotic call, she left Utopia, and Dracula's son Xarus bit her in X-Men #2, completing her transformation into a full vampire. She even turned Wolverine when he came to rescue her.

She remained a vampire for eight years. Cyclops and Wolverine rejected Blade's suggestion to kill her; instead, Wolverine fed her his own blood — his healing factor kept her from going savage. Dracula gave her a medallion shielding her from sunlight. Undead, she adopted baby Shogo in Budapest and raised him, and taught at the Jean Grey School.

The cure came in Generation X #86 (2018): Monet — merged with her brother Emplate — tore off Jubilee's sunlight amulet and threw her into daylight, where she burst into flames. Quentin Quire sacrificed the fragment of the Phoenix Force he carried to save her — and the Phoenix, symbol of rebirth, also restored her mutant fireworks powers, lost since M-Day in 2005. Classic Jubilee was back after 13 powerless years.
