Today's Fact
She quit costumes twice. When she finally suited up for the Avengers in earnest, she refused both of her old names and invented a third.
For years Jessica Jones lived at Avengers Tower in a strange half-status: resident, consultant, new mother, but pointedly not on the roster. She had buried Jewel after the Purple Man and buried Knightress after a single week, and she meant to stay buried.
Motherhood changed the maths. With her daughter Danielle to protect and threats arriving at the Tower's door, Jessica concluded she was the person best placed to defend her own family, and in the New Avengers era she formally joined the team her husband Luke Cage was leading.
The telling detail is the name on the membership card. She did not revive Jewel, and she did not dust off Knightress. She called herself Power Woman — a deliberate mirror of Luke's old Power Man identity — and she was trusted enough in the role to lead the New Avengers in the field.
Why It's Obscure
Two retired identities, one tower full of Avengers, and a comeback that needed its own nameplate.
