Jeff the Land Shark Fact — November 5, 2026

Today's Fact

A King in Black tie-in turned Marvel's sweetest shark into a biting monster, and the rescue plan turned out to be sheer volume.

JEFF GOT POSSESSED BY A SYMBIOTE — AND DEADPOOL CURED HIM BY BLASTING MUSIC AT HIM THROUGH A GIANT SPEAKER!

The Featured Fact

When Knull, god of the symbiotes, invaded Earth in the King in Black event, Deadpool — then reigning as King of the Monsters from Staten Island — fielded his Monster King's Honor Guard against a symbiote dragon in Deadpool Vol. 7 #10 (2021). Jeff did the only thing a shark can do in a fight: he bit the enemy, and the dragon's symbiote swallowed him into Knull's hive instead.

Possessed, Jeff turned genuinely mean and bit a chunk out of Deadpool's own arm, forcing Wade to hack the arm off before the symbiote could spread up it. The mutant Jelby then sealed Jeff inside a bubble grown from Jelby's own body — the same containment trick the team used on the symbiote dragon itself — while the fight raged around them.

Once the dragon was dealt with, the cure was pure comic-book acoustics. Symbiotes are vulnerable to intense sound, so Jeff's friends set the goo-covered shark in front of an enormous speaker and blasted music at him — Wu-Tang Clan, in the best-known retellings — until the vibrations shook the symbiote clean off and the normal, snack-seeking Jeff was back.

Why It's Obscure

Plenty of heroes got Knullified during King in Black. Only one of them was saved by being treated like a speaker-testing demo.

King in Black · 2021

An event-sized infection — Knull's invasion draped Earth in symbiote dragons and a living darkness; Jeff's possession was one tiny, toothy corner of a planet-wide takeover.

Jelby's bubble

Containment, jelly division — Jelby's body-bubble bought the team time twice in one issue, first around Jeff and then around a full symbiote dragon.

His own arm

Deadpool's deductible — Wade's answer to a symbiote spreading from a bite was immediate self-amputation; with his healing factor, an arm is a renewable resource.

Turn it up

Sonic weakness, weaponised — Sound has undone symbiotes since Venom's earliest defeats; Deadpool simply applied the principle at concert volume to a shark.
