Today's Fact

Every king needs a court, and Deadpool’s monster kingdom on Staten Island had a very small, very sincere admirer problem. In Deadpool Vol. 7 #5 (2020), an electrically charged kaiju — a Ragmagjira — came ashore hunting the King of the Monsters’ crown. Wade Wilson dubbed the creature Smash Smash. Jeff, the royal pet, took one look at the towering, sparking sea monster and fell completely, hopelessly in love.
Smash Smash did not reciprocate. The kaiju rejected the little land shark’s affections in the most decisive way available to a giant monster: it swallowed him whole, to the horror of Deadpool and Elsa Bloodstone. For most pets, being eaten by your crush would be the end of the romance — and of the story.
Jeff is not most pets. He ate his way back out of Smash Smash and survived the ordeal entirely unscathed — the same could not be said for the kaiju, or for Jeff’s brief career as a suitor. The whole courtship lasted a single issue: first sight, total devotion, consumption, and a self-rescue by chewing. It remains the shortest and most one-sided love story in the Marvel Universe.
Why It's Obscure
