Today's Fact
Checked against independent sources — the issues are cited below.
Danny Rand looks like a solo act — one man, one glowing fist. In The Immortal Iron Fist (2006), Ed Brubaker and Matt Fraction revealed he is the latest holder of a mantle carried by sixty-six men and women across the centuries: the Iron Fists of K’un-Lun, each sworn to defend the mystical city — and nearly all of them recorded in the Book of the Iron Fist, a chronicle written on parchment made from the scales of the dragon of K’un-Lun.
The Book holds the life and kung-fu secrets of every Iron Fist — except two. Danny’s story is missing because he is the current holder, still living it. The other omission is Orson Randall, the Golden Age Iron Fist who preceded Danny: a pulp adventurer who carried the power into the twentieth century, then spent the rest of his life trying to outrun the legacy — and died doing it. Danny inherited not just a power but a warning.
The line the Book does record is glorious. There is Wu Ao-Shi, the Pirate Queen of Pinghai Bay, who turned the Iron Fist’s power against the fleets raiding her coast. There are Iron Fists of plague years, war years and centuries with no names left at all — sixty-six lives of courage and sacrifice behind the mask. Danny Rand didn’t invent the Iron Fist. He is chapter sixty-six of it.
Why It's Obscure
Every Iron Fist gets a chapter in the Book — except the one still fighting, and the one who ran.
