THE HULK SPENT MONTHS AS A LAS VEGAS CASINO ENFORCER NAMED JOE FIXIT
The Featured Fact

The world believed the Hulk had died at Middletown, and for once the obituaries suited him. The Hulk who resurfaced in Las Vegas was grey, smaller, and considerably smarter than the rampaging green legend — and he had steady employment, working the floor of the Coliseum casino as an enforcer the staff knew only as Mr. Fixit.

His employer was casino owner Michael Berengetti, who knew exactly what his muscle really was and kept the secret. Berengetti supplied the tailor-made suits, the food, the rooms, and the orders about which problems to beat down; he also supplied a first name, borrowing Joe from the gorilla of the film Mighty Joe Young, and so Mr. Fixit became Joe Fixit.

The work suited the hours, because this Hulk belonged to the night: Bruce Banner stayed buried for months at a stretch while Fixit handled casino business after dark, shrugging off bullets that did nothing worse than ruin expensive tailoring — as the gunmen who came for Berengetti in his own penthouse learned when his enforcer came through the roof.

Why It's Obscure

Between the rampages and the world-breaking, the Hulk held down a night job in a suit, answered to Joe, and let a casino boss do his thinking about etiquette.

Grey, not green
A different tenant — the Las Vegas Hulk was the grey personality: cunning, selfish, articulate, and happy to trade mayhem for a salary, luxuries, and being left alone in daylight hours.
The name
Borrowed from a gorilla — Berengetti coined the Joe half of the alias after Mighty Joe Young, making the most feared enforcer in Las Vegas answer to a movie ape's first name.
Believed dead
Anonymity by obituary — the disguise only worked because the public thought the Hulk was gone; grey skin and a good suit did the rest, in a city professionally committed to not asking questions.
Night shift
Banner by day, allegedly — with Banner repressed deep in his own mind for months, Fixit's transformations ran on darkness, which made casino hours the most natural schedule the Hulk ever kept.
