Today's Fact

Imprisoned and starved of starlight by his own brother, Alex Summers found his next meal falling through the ceiling: a living star, served mid-battle.

HAVOK ATE A LIVING STAR — THEN KNOCKED EMPEROR VULCAN FLAT WITH IT!
The Featured Fact

On the Shi'ar prison world of Kr'kn, Vulcan kept his brother caged in darkness on purpose: Havok's body drinks cosmic radiation, so a lightless cell was a starvation diet. The rescue battle changed the menu. Rachel Grey's fight with the Hodinn — a living, laughing star in humanoid form, serving in Vulcan's Praetorian guard — came crashing through the prison roof, and Alex Summers smiled: a star is the one food his mutation was built for. In X-Men: Kingbreaker #4 (2009), Havok drank the Hodinn's fire straight down and lit up with it.

What he did with the meal settled a family argument. Fed on a star, Havok turned the whole charge on Vulcan — the Omega-level brother who had beaten him every time they had met — and put the Emperor of the Shi'ar on the floor, standing over him still glowing and ordering him to get up because they were not finished. The Guard had to stop fighting the Hodinn themselves, and Polaris had to talk Alex down before the duel killed everyone in the room.

It was not even his first stellar feeding. Vulcan had once thrown him into a sun outright, expecting an execution; Havok came back supercharged from that too, and only surrendered because the Imperial Guard held his Starjammers hostage. Twice, the family's most powerful brother tried to kill him with a star, and twice the star filed itself under 'supplies.'

Why It's Obscure

Brotherly warfare, settled by whoever controls the catering.

The Hodinn
A star with a laugh — the Hodinn was no metaphor: a living star serving as a Praetorian weapon, until it landed inside a cosmic-energy absorber's reach.
The cell
Starved on purpose — Kr'kn's dark, underwater cell was engineered famine; Alex escaped it by sipping the sliver of light under his cell door for weeks first.
The rematch
A rivalry with a pattern — every Vulcan victory over Alex came with Alex unfed; the Kingbreaker duel is what the same fight looks like after lunch.
The leash
Polaris calls time — the only thing that ended the beating was Lorna Dane warning him the prison, and everyone in it, would not survive him finishing it.
