GAMORA ONCE RULED THE GRACES — AN ARMY OF WOMEN WARRIORS WHO TREATED HER AS A LIVING GODDESS ON GODTHAB OMEGA!
The Featured Fact

Between her Infinity Watch years and the Guardians of the Galaxy, Gamora disappeared into one of the strangest chapters of her life. On the world Godthab Omega she gathered an order of women warriors called the Graces, ruled them from a mountain stronghold, and set out to rebuild her reputation as the deadliest woman in the universe — carrying the blade called Godslayer, with her mind quietly altered by the cosmic being Glorian.

Her followers did not treat her as a commander so much as a deity. From Mount Virago, the Graces spread across Godthab Omega subjugating settlement after settlement in her name, until they reached a Kree settlement and ran into the one man constitutionally incapable of kneeling: Ronan the Accuser, who met Gamora in single combat across Annihilation: Ronan Vol. 1 #1–4 (2006).

The goddess phase ended the moment a larger war arrived. When the Annihilation Wave hit Godthab Omega, Gamora folded her private empire into Nova’s United Front instead, running fast counterattacks against Annihilus’s forces — trading a throne built out of conquest for a place in the resistance, which is where the modern Guardians era finds her shortly after.

Why It's Obscure

Before the Guardians made her family, an entire planet’s worth of swordswomen made her a god — and she gave it up for a war.

Godthab Omega
Mount Virago — Gamora carves out a retreat in the planet’s most treacherous mountains and builds her stronghold at its peak, far above anyone who might argue with her.
The Graces
An army of acolytes — Women warriors gather under her banner, treat her as a living goddess, and conquer Godthab Omega settlement by settlement in her name.
2006
Ronan comes calling — Annihilation: Ronan Vol. 1 #1–4: the Graces target a Kree settlement, and Ronan the Accuser answers with a duel against Gamora herself, Godslayer and all.
The Wave
A bigger war — The Annihilation Wave ends the experiment; Gamora joins Nova’s United Front and aims the Graces’ discipline at Annihilus instead.
