Today's Fact
After the Gauntlet came off, the deadliest woman in the galaxy got custody of time itself.
When the Living Tribunal ruled that the Infinity Gems could never again work in unison, Adam Warlock split them among a hand-picked guard in Warlock and the Infinity Watch #2 (1992). His choice for the Time Gem raised eyebrows across the cosmos: Gamora, an assassin raised by Thanos, freshly returned from the dead, and openly reluctant to take the thing.
Her reluctance was precisely the recommendation. Gamora protested that she had no idea how to operate the gem, and Warlock answered that the most dangerous woman in the universe could keep it safe even if she never used it — a guardian with no ambition for the prize is the hardest kind to rob.
Custody was not entirely passive, though. Without training or intent, Gamora began receiving glimpses of events that had not happened yet, the gem leaking future visions into the mind of its keeper. She eventually walked away from the Watch, and the Time Gem passed to her replacement, Maxam, while Gamora carried the experience into her later career as a hero.
Why It's Obscure
Thanos trained her to end lives. Warlock trusted her to guard every second of them.
