Today's Fact
Banished by a demon to an empty world where time ran faster than home, Forge had no lab, no parts and no audience — just his hands, his gift, and Ororo.
During the Fall of the Mutants, the demon called the Adversary — wearing the face of Forge's old teacher Naze — tricked Storm into striking at Forge, then hurled both of them out of Dallas and into another dimension entirely: a pristine, unpeopled world where time moved far faster than it did back on Earth. (Uncanny X-Men Vol. 1 #225–227, 1988)
Forge started from absolute zero. With no tools but what his mutant gift could improvise from raw wilderness, he built shelter, then instruments, then something close to a new life — and, over the long months the two of them spent there, he and Storm rebuilt the closeness that his Neutralizer had shattered.
His masterwork in that empty world was a device that gave Storm back what his own invention had taken: her weather powers, fully restored. Then Forge turned her gift into the escape route itself, using her lightning as the power source for a gateway that carried them both home to a Dallas where only moments had passed.
Why It's Obscure
Plenty of heroes have been exiled to other worlds — the obscure part is what Forge did with the exile: a workshop, a cure and a doorway, all improvised from nothing.
