Today's Fact

The Frost family tree has a youngest branch most readers have never met.

EMMA FROST HAS A YOUNGER SISTER NOBODY TALKS ABOUT — CORDELIA, AN EMPATH WHO TRADED A FRIEND TO THE HELLFIRE CLUB TO STEAL EMMA’S TITLE!
The Featured Fact

The Frost siblings number four, not three. Below Christian, Emma and Adrienne sits Cordelia Frost, the youngest of Winston and Hazel Frost’s children — a mutant empath whose gift lets her read and implant emotional states, and who is, by the usual quirk of mutant siblings, completely immune to Emma Frost’s telepathy. Emma herself once rated her sister the most powerful empath she had ever encountered.

Cordelia’s ambitions ran in a familiar family direction: she wanted her big sister’s seat. On Samoa she befriended Mondo, a mutant who had saved her life — then used her powers to control him and delivered him to Shinobi Shaw as a gift, demanding in exchange the vacant White Queen seat on the Hellfire Club’s Inner Circle, the title Emma had made famous. Shaw refused her flatly.

When Mondo was promptly stolen from the Club by mercenaries, Cordelia had exactly one person left to beg: Emma. Unable to read her sister’s mind to check the story, Emma took Generation X to rescue Mondo anyway — knowing perfectly well she was being lied to. The coda is pure Krakoa: after Cordelia’s eventual death, Emma used her seat on the Quiet Council to make sure her little sister was in no priority whatsoever to be resurrected.

Why It's Obscure

Adrienne gets the villain retrospectives and Christian gets the sympathy; Cordelia’s single scheme is stranger than both and almost never retold.

The fourth Frost
Youngest and least known — Cordelia was the baby of the family, written off by her parents as the lost one, and rebelled in black clothes and sulky moods long before her powers surfaced.
Generation X Annual ’95
The Mondo bargain — Cordelia presented the captured Mondo to Shinobi Shaw as her ticket to the White Queen title; Shaw declined, and the Club lost Mondo to kidnappers within the same affair.
Sibling immunity
A mind Emma cannot read — like Cyclops and Havok, Frost siblings are naturally shielded from each other’s powers, which is why Emma had to rescue Mondo on trust alone.
Krakoa era
No resurrection priority — when Cordelia later died, Emma quietly ensured the Five were in no hurry to bring her back. Family feeling, Frost style.
