In Uncanny X-Men #151–152 (1981) by Chris Claremont and Jim Sherman, Emma Frost — still the White Queen of the Hellfire Club — did not fight Storm. She became her. Emma had telepathically forced Kitty Pryde's parents to transfer Kitty to her Massachusetts Academy. When Storm drove Kitty there, Emma ambushed her and used the Hellfire Club's Persona Exchange device to swap their minds.
Emma, in Storm's body, reveled in weather powers she had never held and tried to infiltrate the X-Men from inside. Storm, trapped in Emma's body, had to learn telepathy on the fly — drawing on what Jean Grey had taught her — rescued Kitty, and escaped. It is one of the earliest stories where Storm wins a fight with somebody else's powers.
The swap collapsed when Emma lost control of Storm's weather powers mid-confrontation. Storm forced a psychic rapport, calmed the storm, and used the device to swap them back — then hit Emma with a lightning bolt so furious she nearly killed her, until Wolverine talked her down. The X-Men let Emma leave. Kitty stayed at Xavier's.
Why It's Obscure
Everybody knows Emma and Storm as rivals. Almost nobody remembers Emma once wore Storm's body, powers and all — to steal a student.
