DEADPOOL MARRIED SHIKLAH, QUEEN OF THE UNDERWORLD — AND THE WEDDING COVER SET A GUINNESS WORLD RECORD!
The Featured Fact

For once, the mercenary job ended at an altar instead of a morgue. Dracula had hired Wade Wilson to escort an ancient succubus named Shiklah — sealed asleep in a sarcophagus by her own father until a monster war ended or a husband arrived — across the world so the vampire lord could marry her himself and annex her kingdom. Wade delivered the bride to the wrong groom: himself.

The ceremony filled Central Park in Deadpool #27 (2014), written by Gerry Duggan and Brian Posehn. Nightcrawler officiated after three other candidates declined, Thor discreetly managed the weather, and the bride dipped the groom for the kiss. Shiklah took up residence below Manhattan as ruler of Monster Metropolis, making Deadpool, technically, monster royalty by marriage.

Marvel printed the nuptials under a cover crowded with Wade's friends, enemies and assorted hangers-on, and Guinness World Records certified it as the most comic-book characters ever assembled on a single issue cover — 232 figures in total, 224 of them publicly recognisable enough to count toward the record. The marriage later collapsed, and Shiklah eventually wed Dracula after all, which suggests the escort fee was never the real problem.

Why It's Obscure

A sarcophagus, a vampire's fiancée, and a cover too crowded for its own indicia.

Shiklah
The bride — an ancient royal succubus whose family ruled the underworld long before humanity appeared.
Dracula
The client — the vampire hired Deadpool to fetch his intended bride and lost her to the delivery man.
The Gauntlet
The courtship — the romance played out across the Deadpool: The Gauntlet digital series before the formal wedding issue.
2014
The wedding — Deadpool #27, April 9, 2014: Nightcrawler officiates in Central Park while Thor holds off the rain.
232
The record — Guinness counted 232 characters on the cover, a world record for a single comic-book issue.
