KAREN PAGE SOLD DAREDEVIL'S SECRET IDENTITY TO A DRUG DEALER — FOR A SINGLE SHOT OF HEROIN!
The Featured Fact

The most devastating betrayal in Daredevil's history cost the buyer almost nothing. Karen Page, once the Nelson and Murdock secretary and Matt's great early love, had left New York chasing an acting career that collapsed into addiction and exploitation work in Mexico. Desperate and strung out, she traded the one thing she still owned outright — the knowledge that Matt Murdock was Daredevil — for one fix.

That secret travelled upward through the criminal food chain until it reached the Kingpin, who did something colder than sending assassins: he audited Matt's life out of existence. Across Daredevil #227–233 (1986), Frank Miller and David Mazzucchelli's Born Again, Fisk froze Matt's accounts through the IRS, engineered his disbarment on a perjury frame, foreclosed on his home, and finally firebombed the building for emphasis.

Karen, hunted by Fisk's kill order against everyone who had handled the information, fought her way back to New York and confessed everything. Matt forgave her without a flicker of hesitation, then nursed her through withdrawal while working shifts as a short-order cook — the lawyer the Kingpin had erased, rebuilding a smaller and better life in Hell's Kitchen.

Why It's Obscure

The Kingpin
The buyer — Wilson Fisk verified the secret, then spent six months quietly dismantling Matt Murdock's finances, career and home.
1986
Born Again — Daredevil #227–233 by Frank Miller and David Mazzucchelli, routinely ranked among the finest Daredevil stories ever printed.
The confession
The forgiveness — Karen admitted the betrayal expecting ruin; Matt took her in and helped her through withdrawal instead.
