Today's Fact

Piotr Rasputin grew up believing his older brother Mikhail had died when his space capsule was lost, the family tragedy that shadowed the Rasputin farm long before the X-Men came calling. Uncanny X-Men #284–286 (1992) detonated that grief: pulled through a runaway portal into the Void dimension, Piotr was mistaken by local rebels for a prophesied returning savior — because the rebels already had one, and he was wearing Piotr's face in family form.
The Savior was Mikhail himself. The cosmonaut's capsule had not killed him; it had stranded him in the Void, where his matter-warping mutant gift made him a resistance leader, a husband, and finally a legend whose closing of the portal had killed his own wife and followers in a radiation wave. The brother Piotr mourned had lived an entire epic life in the years Russia spent holding his funeral.
Piotr brought Mikhail home to the X-Mansion, but the homecoming curdled: guilt and messiah fever made the elder Rasputin dangerously unstable, culminating in a staged drowning that nearly took the Morlocks with him. The reunion gave Colossus back his brother and, in the same gesture, showed him why some resurrections arrive carrying their own wreckage.
Why It's Obscure
The Rasputins held a funeral, built a grief, and moved on — then the deceased walked out of a portal with a dimension's worth of followers behind him.
