Today's Fact
Cable owns more futuristic firearms than most armies — yet the weapon built for his mind outperforms every one of them.
The Askani, the sisterhood that raised Cable in the far future, fought Apocalypse with more than guns: their psychics channelled raw mental energy through bladed spears called psimitars, weapons that focus and amplify telepathic and telekinetic power. In Cable's hands a psimitar turns the enormous psionic force he normally spends holding back his techno-organic virus into a directed instrument — part staff, part spear, part amplifier.
He did not simply keep his childhood weapon. After the Dark Sisterhood's Psi-War disruption crippled his powers, Cable recovered a psimitar in the present day from a hidden Askani order secretly planted in this era by the time-travelling Askani agent Ch'Vayre, as told in Cable Vol. 1 #58 (1998). The order had waited in concealment for the Askani'son to come and claim the weapon his upbringing had prepared him for.
The psimitar answers only to a psionic bond with its wielder, and Cable has used it for delicate work no rifle could do — most famously driving it into the merged Cyclops–Apocalypse being to help tear his father free of the villain's essence. Forge later built Cable a bespoke psimitar with a grim safety feature: if Nathan ever drew so much power that it would kill him, the weapon would destroy itself first.
Why It's Obscure
Everybody photographs the guns; the spear is the one item in the arsenal that is also a religious artefact.
