HE KILLED KAREN PAGE WITH DAREDEVIL'S OWN BILLY CLUB — AND HE WASN'T EVEN AIMING AT HER!
The Featured Fact

In the Guardian Devil storyline, the illusionist Mysterio, dying and hunting for one last grand performance, hired Bullseye to snatch an infant that Matt Murdock was protecting — a baby Mysterio had convinced him might be the Antichrist. The trail led to a church, where Karen Page had already outsmarted the assassin once that day, swapping the child for a doll and sending him away holding a toy.

Cornered alongside a downed Daredevil in Daredevil Vol. 2 #5 (1999), Bullseye did the cruellest thing available to him: he hurled Daredevil’s own billy club at the hero’s head with killing force. Karen saw the throw, understood it in an instant, and stepped into its path. The club struck her in the heart, and Daredevil’s oldest love died in his arms in the church where the fight had raged.

Here is the detail that makes it pure Bullseye: by every account he was furious about the kill — not out of remorse, but because Karen’s sacrifice meant the man who never misses had, technically, missed. He had now taken both of Murdock’s great loves from him, Elektra years before and Karen now, and his only complaint was about his own perfect record.

Why It's Obscure

Elektra’s death made Bullseye a legend among villains. Karen Page’s death shows the pettier truth underneath: he minded the blemish on his aim more than the body at his feet.

Mysterio
The employer — a dying Mysterio staged the whole affair as his final masterpiece, casting Bullseye as the monster in a religious drama of his own invention.
The doll
Outsmarted first — Karen had already beaten the assassin once that day, palming the real baby off and letting him kidnap a doll in her place.
The throw
His own weapon — Bullseye turned Daredevil’s signature billy club into the murder weapon, aimed at the hero and intercepted by the woman who loved him.
The miss
The real wound — witnesses and write-ups agree on the ugliest part: Bullseye showed no remorse for Karen, only anger that his throw had failed to find its intended target.
