Today's Fact

In 1993 Blade decided the fastest way to end the supernatural forever was a spell written by the elder god Chthon. Hunting a loose Darkhold page that promised to destroy every occult being on Earth, he read the Demogorge spell aloud in Nightstalkers Vol. 1 #10 (1993) — and the page kept its bargain in the worst possible way, remaking the hunter himself into Switchblade, a new Demogorge built to do the killing personally.
The transformation was physical and total: fangs, claws, a burning, half-melted face and a body that absorbed the powers of everything it murdered. Switchblade tore through the Midnight Sons one by one — Hannibal King, John Blaze, Morbius, Werewolf by Night and even Ghost Rider were killed and drained during the Midnight Massacre crossover — each death feeding the next victim's stolen strength back into Blade's corrupted form.
What stopped him was not a stronger monster but the one ordinary human in the room. Darkhold Redeemer Louise Hastings, a scholar with no powers at all, was the only person who could read Chthon's counterspell, because it demanded a non-supernatural caster. Her reading restored Blade and resurrected every victim of the massacre — and quietly cost her a piece of her own soul to pay for it.
Why It's Obscure
The spell worked exactly as advertised — it simply appointed the reader as the apocalypse.
