Today's Fact

A king who cannot speak his grief still had to sign his heir away — to the one enemy who collects children across time.

BLACK BOLT GAVE HIS OWN SON TO KANG — TO SAVE AHURA FROM THE END OF THE UNIVERSE!
The Featured Fact

Black Bolt and Medusa have a son, Ahura Boltagon, and for years Marvel barely let readers see him: the boy was conceived without the Genetics Council's permission, born in hiding on Earth, seized by the Council and kept sequestered, in part because the madness that afflicts his uncle Maximus was feared to live in him too. When Attilan fell during Infinity, Black Bolt sent Ahura through Eldrac the doorway — and the boy landed in the fortress of Kang the Conqueror.

The bargain came due in Uncanny Inhumans #0 (2015). With the incursions collapsing the multiverse, Black Bolt found his son in Kang's care, triggered the boy's Terrigenesis himself, and then agreed to Kang's price for carrying Ahura safely out of the dying timeline: even if the universe survived, the boy would remain Kang's forever. The silent king, who has bargained away kingdoms with a gesture, traded away his own child with one.

It did not stick quietly. Ahura had come to think of Kang as his real father, and getting him back took a rescue mission 13,000 years into the past, where Kang had parked the boy with Randac, the first Inhuman king. Only after Ahura saw the future Kang was grooming him for did he turn on his captor — using his newly manifested psychic projections to possess Kang and order him to leave the Inhumans alone.

Why It's Obscure

Royal families hide awkward heirs in boarding schools; the Inhumans hid theirs in a time fortress run by a conqueror.

MARVEL GRAPHIC NOVEL: THE INHUMANS (1988)
A forbidden birth. Ann Nocenti and Bret Blevins introduced the infant Ahura in the 1988 Inhumans graphic novel — a child the Genetics Council had ordered never to be born at all.
THE NAME POPE
Hidden on Earth. Shipped away as a baby, Ahura was raised by a childless human couple under the name Pope before the Royal Family's orbit pulled him back — a prince who spent years not knowing he was one.
UNCANNY INHUMANS #0 (2015)
The Kang clause. Charles Soule's prelude issue is where Black Bolt formalises the deal: Terrigenesis for his son, custody to Kang, and no take-backs written into the fine print of time itself.
AHURA AFTERWARD
Not just a hostage. Ahura later surfaced running the Ennilux Corporation out of Venice — the hidden prince grew up to be a CEO with psychic doubles, which is one way to process a childhood.
