Today's Fact
A Terrigen bomb, a fistfight inside it, and a tear ripped clean through space and time — that is how the War of Kings actually ended.
Black Bolt's endgame against the Shi'ar emperor Vulcan was a Terrigen Bomb built to end the War of Kings at a stroke: detonated over the Shi'ar Imperium, it would have bathed an empire in Terrigen and remade the galaxy's balance of power in a single blast. Vulcan boarded the weapon to stop it, and the two kings fought hand to hand inside the bomb itself in War of Kings Vol. 1 #6 (2009).
The fight wrecked the plan and then the weapon. Black Bolt's scream seared the flesh from Vulcan's body, Crystal rendered the Terrigen crystals inert in a last attempt to shut the device down, and Vulcan — rebuilt by his own Omega-level power — tackled the silent king before either of them could teleport clear. The bomb went off with both men still on it, devastating the Shi'ar fleet and tearing the Fault, a wound in space and time parsecs wide.
Attilan buried a king who had never died. Black Bolt survived inside the Fault, the rift his own bomb had opened, and eventually fought his way back to Hala — where a Shi'ar battle record later filed the strangest status update in Inhuman history: some said he had died and returned as the Midnight King, while others insisted a king with a voice like his simply refuses to stay gone.
Why It's Obscure
A king who spent one war ruling an empire spent the next stretch of continuity officially dead — and almost no summary of Black Bolt mentions either half of that sentence.
