BISHOP

Today's Fact

Everyone else woke up in Apocalypse's world believing it had always been that way — one time traveller's scrambled memory said otherwise.

WHEN LEGION ERASED THE WHOLE TIMELINE, BISHOP WAS THE ONLY MAN LEFT WHO REMEMBERED THE WORLD!
The Featured Fact

In "Legion Quest," David Haller travelled back in time to kill Magneto and instead killed his own father, Charles Xavier — and reality rewrote itself around the murder. The X-Men who had chased Legion into the past vanished along with the world they came from. Bishop did not. Because he was already a traveller from a divergent future, he stood outside the change: a chronal anomaly the rewrite could not digest.

Surviving cost him twenty years and most of his sanity. Thrown forward into the new timeline — the Age of Apocalypse, where Apocalypse had conquered North America — Bishop wandered it for two decades with his memories of the true history fragmenting in his head, insisting to anyone who would listen that the world was wrong.

When Magneto's X-Men finally found him, his fractured recollections became the rebellion's most dangerous weapon: proof that another world had existed and could be restored. Magneto had Destiny verify the story, then staked everything on sending Bishop back to stand between Legion and Xavier — restoring the timeline at the price of erasing the only world those X-Men had ever known.

Why It's Obscure

Bishop has hunted traitors, babies and futures — but his strangest assignment was remembering one for everybody else.

LEGION QUEST (1994–95)
The murder that unmade Marvel. The crossover ran through X-Men Vol. 2 #38–41, Uncanny X-Men #319–321, X-Factor #108–109 and Cable #20. Xavier died shielding Magneto, and the shockwave moved forward through time, replacing history itself.
X-MEN: ALPHA (1995)
The madman as witness. The Age of Apocalypse opened with Magneto's team rescuing a raving Bishop from Apocalypse's Infinites. Marvel's own guided tour of the event notes that his status as a veteran time-traveller is exactly why the ripples never erased him.
A VERIFIED MADNESS
Destiny checked his story. Magneto did not take a stranger's word for the end of the world — he sent Nightcrawler to fetch the precognitive Destiny, whose visions confirmed that Bishop's impossible memories described a real, murdered timeline.
THE RESET BUTTON
He fixed it by going back again. Guided through the M'Kraan Crystal, Bishop intercepted Legion in the past and turned the psychic blade aside, taking the blast himself. History snapped back — and echoes of the other world, including its Dark Beast, slipped through with it.
